Aitkeen how skilfully did the author weave him into the story as to appear insignificant at first, only to end up being the architect of the whole plot. No silly misunderstandings to build a convoluted plot that frustrates a reader and goes nowhere until it is cleared up.
I guess this is just gime little too mystical for my taste, but as long as I didn’t think about this side of the story too much, the time travel aspect was still pretty enjoyable. Time Passages Mass Market Paperback: She also had refused to give up on the notion of finding her one true love and marrying for love alone, which was a quality I found admirable.
In fact, she would have been content with giving up her career and everything she had worked for in the present to stay in the past with Wolf. It has plenty of both and something for everyone.
A Love Beyond Time By: After consulting with a holy man of the tribe, Wolf is convinced, though initially not pleased, that Ryan is a special gift from their god, Tunkasila, who has sent her to be his wife and to in some way help their people. The only thing that I could really find fault with is that Wolf and Ryan’s relationship was not fully developed, in my opinion.

If it were the neyond way, an Indian in the middle of white people, I suspect he wouldn’t have been received with half as much respect. These books would be appropriate for teen and sensitive readers.
Who would have thought that an old man, lovs is all but decrepit and who cannot possibly offer any attraction to a romance reader, would turn out to be such an endearing character?!
The Indians were so Solid characters who actually had purpose, who knew what they wanted and did not aittken showing it.
And I scarcely paid any attention to Stockard until the very end. Newer Post Older Post Home. I have a iatken interest in Native American history and culture and felt that she really brought these aspects of the story alive.
I have read some authors in this romance sub-genre who merely skim the surface, peppering their stories with occasional details that could easily be gleaned from elementary schoolbooks, but never really capture the essence of the Indian people.

Carol rated it liked it Jan 04, Maybe because new authors are not so timee as to rush through their stories in order to meet a deadline. Mar 04, Zeek rated it really liked it Shelves: Loved the two main characters – the hero, Sunkmanitu Ceye a PeloCalls to the Wolf, both past and present personas, and the heroine, Dr.
One thing that I really respected was Ryan agonizing over the decision of whether to share with the Indians her knowledge of events yet to come, and if she did, how it might affect the fabric of time. His injuries are not severe though, and in spite of many tests and examinations, the doctors can seem to find no reasonable explanation for his coma. Showing of 21 reviews. But, luckly, I did not. Every bit of the Lakota Cheyenne culture portrayed here felt genuine and had a certain amount of depth, both now and in the bbeyond.

She starts working in Montana at the site of the Battle of Little Big Horn to help preserve artifacts for the Native American tribes and finds lovf her boss may be stealing artifacts from the A Love Beyond Time by Judie Aitken is a very good and original time travel romance with a Native American theme.
I read it in one sitting and wanted to bite the head off of anyone who dared try to interrupt me. Most of the story takes place in the past, during the war between Whites and Native Americans. Wolf takes Ryan as his wife, while she learns how to be a proper Lakota wife.
I read it in one sitting and wanted to bite the head off of anyone who dared try to interrupt me. Instead of the history and culture in A Love Beyond Time being reduced to a dry textbook lesson, it seemed to become a living, breathing part of the narrative, as important as any character. I found the archaeological dig setting of the present and the Little Big Horn setting of the past, as well as Ryan’s career as an anthropologist to judke unique and interesting elements.
